Most likely, your Switchvox is on a private network (a VPN). If that's the case, you will need to connect your smartphone to that network before you can use Switchvox Mobile. This article provides links to more information about connecting to a private network from the iPhone or a BlackBerry device.
When you use a VPN connection on your smartphone, keep in mind that the connection may drop in certain situations (if the phone locks, or the connection is idle for too long.)

Setting up VPNiPhone in Business: Virtual Private NetworksUnderstanding unexpected VPN disconnectsBlackBerryUsing a BlackBerry device to connect to a VPN generally requires a
BlackBerry Enterprise Server running on the private network. Also, the network that your device is connected to must support connections to a VPN.
For BlackBerry device users, your network administrator can provide instructions for setting up your BlackBerry device to connect to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
NoteIf Switchvox is on a public IP address, then your smartphone does not need to establish a separate connection to your network. In this case:
- Switchvox Access Control rules must allow the phone to reach the Web User Portal and the User API, letting Mobile Application users connect to their Switchvox extension.
- Your router should forward HTTP and HTTPS ports to Switchvox, and Switchvox's NAT Port Forwarding should be on, with Switchvox's external IP address.
Be careful allowing this network traffic. Be sure that your extension passwords are strong.
